We've had a few people ask us recently if our products will allow them to "clap to turn on the lights". This always makes us laugh because it's so old-school! The tech first appeared in movies and other pop-culture in the 1970's and is affectionately known as "The Clapper". The name alone is enough to make us laugh.
While it's technically possible to rig a Z-Wave home automation solution to achieve this, in this day-and-age, we can't imagine why anyone would want to. Voice controlled actions using an Android device with Tasker and Auto Voice is by far the slicker option over mindless hand clapping.
We've mentioned Ryan's InControl tutorial before which describes how simple this is to achieve, and then we remembered some amazing YouTube demos that really illustrate the power of all of this. A word of warning to iOS users - These videos will probably make you very jealous but to be clear, home automation is absolutely possible with iPhones and iPads. It's just that voice-controlled home automation is not quite there yet with Siri.
So here they are.... Enjoy!
