1. ImperiHome (Android & iOS)
First up there's ImperiHome. This app wins our vote for the best of the best! It will not only interface with all Vera controllers but a plethora of other systems as well, including Fibaro Home Center 2, MPEG/h264 cameras, Philips HUE and many more. You can read about the full list of features here but what we love most about this app is that the UI is super-fast and completely configurable. And, when paired with the Vera ImperiHome plugin, you can also control certain aspects of the app from within your scenes.
2. VeraMate (iOS)
VeraMate is a fantastic Vera compatible app for iPhone and iPad. This app offers a decent level of customisation including user selectable device icons and backgrounds. It also supports voice control, GeoFencing and much, much more. It will even interface with your Apple Watch! A very polished and feature-rich smart home app which is certain to exceed most people's expectations.
3. HomeWave (iOS)
Another impressive app for the iOS platform. Like ImperiHome, HomeWave is completely configurable and allows you to build an interface that looks and feels like an A/V remote control, making it simple for anyone to use. It's a clever deviation from the more traditional list-based interfaces found on countless other apps of this type.
4. AutHomationHD (Android)
AutHomationHD used to be our go-to Vera app but earlier this year, the author decided to put development on hold until further notice. It's a shame because it has one of the cleanest user interfaces of the lot whilst being advanced enough to allow you to view detailed device data and status info without needing to log into Vera directly. It also has one of the best voice recognition capabilities we've tried in an app like this. Even though development has ceased for now, it still makes our list because it's just so good and absolutely free! You won't find it on Google Play but you can still download the last available version here.
5. Vera Mobile (Android & iOS)
It would be wrong of us not to include the Vera Mobile app in this list. After all, it's completely free and will run on both iOS and Android devices. There's even a much needed Windows Phone version currently in the works. It's a no-frills smart home app which essentially mimics the Vera desktop interface and that makes it very easy to use. Vera Mobile has come a long way since we last reviewed it and most of the performance issues previously encountered are now resolved. Again, it's free and straight-forward to use, and you just can't argue with that!
